Hey guys. A wise man once said "If you succeed, keep your head high. If you fail, blame your parents". What a crock of sh*t. If you fail, it is because you are not pushing yourself hard enough. Don't let any distractions hold you back. Go the distance, if not for youself, than for you team. Look at every individual in your boat and say to yourself "We are a family. We work together to succeed". Some of my closest brothers were made on SI Crew, even some of those annoying-ass lighties. Keep it up, and hope to see a lot of you soon

I rowed for SI '92 & '93, and Cincinnati 93-95, and wish I still was. Currently stationed aboard the USS Tarawa, with the Marine Corps' 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit(Special Operations Capable) (currently in the Arabian Gulf). Luckily they have a few ergs aboard, and if you match up to the movement of the ship, you can get a nice set going. Good luck to you all. Coach V, your little Blazer still doing all the towing?

I have a vision in my mind. Try to follow me. I am standing on the dock, looking up at a heavyweight who is standing on the bulkhead. The sun is rising behind the heavyweight, but his body blocks out the sun. I think to myself: Wow, this guy is huge. But then I sanp back to reality. The heavyweight's stomach is casting the shadow. I feel like Punxatony Phil. This will be a long winter because I will have to listen to the heavyweights extoll their greatness. I, the lightweight, have pity for this man. If he had done a few extra sit-ups, maybe he could back-up his claim of greatness. Maybe this spring season, he can work a little harder in the gym. Every time he pushes himself, he is pushing the competition a little farther behind. Good luck this winter, try to puke once a week, and make sure you guys are pushing each other. Don't settle for anything besides open water this spring. Good luck.

Contrary to rumor, I have returned from Italy. Congratulations to all varsity and novice rowers for an outstanding fall season. The great showing in Boston will be, I hope, just a prelude to an even greater Spring Championship season. This fall has been only a taste of glory. Life is a banquet--don't be satisfied with only the appetizers. You have not yet fully realized the heights to which you can raise one another.

I had rowed at Ignatius for four years when the program first got started. I have a lot of memories of rowing on the Cuyahoga, dodging the oar boats, the bizarre things floating in the river. The best story that I can relay is one time when we were just coming around collision bend. The sun was just coming over the horizon and there was morning mist on the water. When out of the quiet Cleveland morning a gentleman from the firehouse appeared standing on the bow of the fireboat playing Chariots of Fire. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I'm glad to see the program has really taken off!

Make sure you have fun in the process though. I look forward to seeing a few of you guys up in Boston for the Head of the Charles. After being up here at BC, I have realized that you we all have the nicest programs in the country. Take advantage of the time you have on SI crew, and good luck. Remember, a Midwest championship is waiting to be won. Good luck, and send me an e-mail if you have the time (mcgivnem@bc.edu). Take care.

I would like to offer a sincere thank you to all of the coaches, parents, friends and the rowers themselves for a most excellent season. We could not have prevailed without the perfect synchronization of all of these major components to the team. Sure, we had to overcome difficulty, aka. St. Mary's Prep, but with the wonderful coordination between all of us, we marched on to victory. Thank you coaches V, B, M, S. Also, I would like to extend a special thank you and farewell to coach Brad. Thank you for everything, you will be wholeheartedly missed, but never forgotten. Congratulations to each and everyone on St. Ignatius Crew. As a parent, I am very proud and moved by your spirit, drive, commitment and respect for this wonderful "sport" that you are all involved in. A great "thanks" and "Kudos" to the coaching staff and the parent volunteers who coordinate, attend and work all aspects of making things happen for and at every regatta. A wonderful and heartfelt "thanks" to all the coache's wives who not only have allowed their husbands to share their "spare" time with our kids, but spend weekends away from home. Thanks to Brad's significant other, if that applies, for his generous time spent coaching our young men. Remember, that the glory you are currently basking-in is shared with your supportive "ghosts" in the background. So the next time you see your mom, dad, grandparents, brothers, sisters or any other family member or friend who has supported you during your past season and will support your upcoming season, just reach out, give them a hug, a handshake, a smile and say thanks for helping me make this happen; and don't forget to thank your creator for making things happen. You are role models for others, show your support when a sibbling wants to follow in your footsteps with crew or any other sport of good character. Good Luck to the graduates Incoming seniors keep the winning tradition going Upcoming Juniors excell and bring up the "rear" Incoming sophomores continue your winning streak Forthcoming novice/freshmen be forwarned, you're coming into crew as a kitten, new, scrawny, lost, scared, timid, you will go out like a LION just like those before you!

Congrats to the Wildcats from a former assistant coach. You killed the King. I am so happy for the team & coach V. It's probably hard for many of the recent team members to relate to the conditions under which we started out back in the early 90's - Oh how far you have come!! Some of the things that stick out in my mind are: - outboard engines falling off of the motorboats and into the cuyahoga river - a power transformer exploding and catching fire in the early morning before practice - guest aerobic instructors for winter training - a fleet consisting entirely of Pocock racing shells. Congratulations - here's to many years of continued success - Cheers!

Hey everyone, just felt like dropping in and seeing what's going on. I look forward to stopping by and seeing how the workouts are going in the mornings over spring break. I wish I could still be doing those workouts in Murphy, but I have had to move on to days where the workouts consist of 2 6k's and an hour and a half session of lifting. From what I have heard from Brad, it looks like you guys are going to have yet another stellar year on the water. I look forward to glancing in the paper only to see that Iggys took another regatta the past weekend. My best of luck to the entire team. "Glory is in the team"

Why would anyone on their right mind want to get up at the @#%-crack of dawn to go and fill thier bodies with pain. Only to get cold water splashed on their face by the damn person in front of you while sitting on your @#% going backwards and being yelled at by someone with a God-like complex? What kind of idiot would do such a thing? I'll see you all at 5 in the morning. Peace. Brum

Its great to see that the team has come so far, from borrowing oars from Western Reserve, to having a web page, and a fan club. Good luck in the upcoming season. By the way, Ive watched the San Diego Crew classic a couple of times since moving here, and rowing in 70 degrees and sunny year around definitely has its advantages over shoveling the dock in April! 1stLt A.C. May Medals are won in the January Gym. The path to the awards dock run right through Murphy. Bust ass and you will go fast. Nuff said.
